Your game on the server
Until now Fleet Commander lived entirely in your browser. From this version on you can create an account, and your game moves to the server.
What is new
- Accounts: a commander name and a password – nothing else. With “Stay signed in” you stay signed in for 30 days.
- Your game everywhere: sign in on your phone or another computer and continue where you left off.
- Time keeps running while you are away: the server finishes your orders and fights battles that pass their deadline, even when no browser is open. When you come back, the report tells you what happened.
- Feedback: a form linked at the bottom of every page. It goes straight to our issue tracker.
- Imprint and privacy policy: what we store, and why. Short version: no tracking, no ads, one login cookie.
Same rules, checked twice
Your browser and the server run exactly the same rule code. When you build a ship or send an attack, your browser asks the server; the server checks it with its own copy of the rules and sends back the result. Between two actions your browser moves the clock forward on its own – and because the rules are deterministic, it arrives at exactly the same state the server would.
Battles work the same way: you fight them in your browser, the server replays your ability timings and gets the same result.
Guests
You can still play without an account. A guest game is not uploaded when you create an account: the server cannot verify a game it never saw, and once commanders share a galaxy that would be an easy way to cheat. Your guest game stays in your browser.
Next
The game should feel lighter: shorter steps, fewer numbers on screen and a flagship with its own screen. After that, other commanders join your galaxy.
